What's Your One Song?
I finally got to see “Walk the Line” - the story of Johnny Cash. It was a very powerful movie -- such a tale of a tragic home life - and the consequences of that. But the scene that stood out to me is when he is auditioning to make a record for Sam Phillips. He pulls out one of his gospel standards and begins to laboriously perform it. Barely through the first verse and chorus Phillips stops and says he’s heard enough - that no one wants to hear another gospel song that isn’t believable. He then asks the question of the movie – and perhaps of his life. “If you had one song to sing before you die – one statement to make – what would it be”.

I’ve thought about that question since then - of how true it is that the world we live in has heard too many laboriously performed gospel songs that aren’t believable because the person singing them doesn’t even believe the lyrics are true. And how its time that we begin to live out songs that are true statements of our life in Christ.

So what would your one song be? Sing it LOUD!
